Black Hills News StoriesGo back to News ArticlesDeadwood's Wild Bill Days Entertainment ConfirmedCountry stars John Michael Montgomery, Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband to headline event June 18-19; weekend to also include DockDogsDEADWOOD (2/2/2010) — While this weekend's Mardi Gras celebration in Deadwood is on the minds of many revelers, the Deadwood Chamber has confirmed its entertainment line-up for Wild Bill Days, June 18-19. Wild Bill Days kicks off the summer Budweiser Event Series in Deadwood and this year's event will feature country stars John Michael Montgomery and Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband. The free concerts are held on Deadwood's Historic Main Street.  John Michael Montgomery John Michael Montgomery, who will take the stage Saturday evening, June 19, has turned an uncanny ability to relate to fans into one of country music's most storied careers. Behind a number of awards and the critical and fan accolades that have defined his success lies a connection that goes beyond his musical talent. Since the days when his hit "Life's A Dance" turned him from an unknown quantity into a national star, John Michael's rich baritone has won awards such as the Country Music Association's Single and Song of the Year, Billboard's Top Country Artist and a Grammy nomination. He's had eight singles reach number one, and has released 14 albums. John Michael Montgomery's other hits include "I Swear," "I Love the Way You Love Me" and "I Can Love You Like That," along with "Letters from Home," "The Little Girl," "Be My Baby Tonight," "Cover You In Kisses," "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)" and many more, including his 2008 hit "Forever." Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband is a crowd pleaser, known for their ability to stretch out musically in all directions. Lead singer Ryan Shupe is a fifth-generation fiddle player. He started The Rubberband as an outlet for talented musicians who wanted to play as a band, but could drop in and out at will. However, one by one, the musicians began to stick. Their cohesiveness fueled their musical fires until they became regional favorites. And the rest is history. With hits like "Dream Big" — which was the theme song on NBC's "Three Wishes" — "Banjo Boy" and "Be the One," Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband have become a fan favorite because of their hits and their onstage energy. They will take the stage Friday evening, June 18. Concerts aren't the only entertainment to be featured during the 2010 Wild Bill Days. Joining the concerts will be a DockDogs competition, which features canine dock jumping and dock diving. Dogs will run down a 40-foot dock and dive into a pool of water. There's also a dog high jumping competition. DockDogs will also be featured on Main Street throughout Wild Bill Days. DockDogs competitions have become a spectator favorite, and the competition is open to any and every dog and owner. Registration is now open, to the first 50 only, by visiting www.dockdogs.com.
