American to add Rapid City-Dallas flights

RAPID CITY, S.D. (01/13/10) -- American Airlines will offer nonstop service to Dallas/Ft. Worth from Rapid City Regional Airport starting April 6, 2010.  The once-daily flight will provide good connections to the Southern US, Mexico, Central and South America and other destinations worldwide.

“I’m encouraged by the increased commitment of American Airlines to Rapid City Regional Airport,” said Mayor Alan Hanks.  “Direct flights to the South will open up prospects for further economic development throughout the Black Hills.”

“If you look at a map of our current destinations, we have great service to all of the major regions of the country with the exception of the Southeast and South Central U.S.  Nonstop service to Dallas/Ft. Worth will go a long way to fill that gap,” said Cameron Humphres, Executive Airport Director.

American Airlines is using this and other route structure changes to better position itself in the upper Midwest and to build on its foundation and strategy for long-term successes. American, American Eagle, and the AmericanConnection airlines serve more than 250 cities in 40 countries with more than 3,400 daily flights.

Serving airports across America since the 1930 has provided American Airlines long-term understanding and experience in providing the public with quality service. The airline has received various awards throughout the world attesting to its high customer service and employee relations, including being named the Best North American Airline for the 16th consecutive year at the 2008 Business Traveler Awards.
